A Common Flyscreen Problem
Over time, flyscreens can start to have small problems such as:
- Coming off the track
- Not sliding properly
- Becoming loose at the edges
- Not closing correctly
These issues are usually caused by wear, small misalignments, or the screen coming out of its guide.
Checking the Flyscreen
The first step is to have a look at the flyscreen and the tracks it runs in. Often the issue is something simple, like the screen slipping out of position or the guides needing to be adjusted.
In many cases, the repair just involves carefully removing the screen, checking the mechanism, and putting it back correctly into the track.
Repairing the Screen
Once you’ve identified the issue, the fix is usually straightforward. This may include:
- Removing the flyscreen from the track
- Checking the guides and rollers
- Re-positioning the screen properly
- Refitting it so it runs smoothly again
With a bit of care, you can often get the flyscreen working like new again without needing to replace the whole unit.
