Ace (under the Swift Group) is known for delivering well-built, nicely specified British motorhomes in the mid-market. The Ace Airstream line (low-profile models) mixes comfort, good layout design, and usable features in vehicles that are more manageable than large overcabs or coachbuilts.
The Ace Airstream 630EW is a 2-berth low-profile motorhome built on the Fiat Ducato 2.3 Multijet 130 BHP diesel chassis, using a 6-speed manual gearbox. The layout features a front lounge with swivel driver & passenger seats that converts into a comfortable double bed, and a rear end washroom layout.
Pros
✔️ Spacious & Practical Layout
- Rear end washroom is quite usable: separate shower cubicle gives more privacy and comfort.
- Lounge up front with swivel cab seats gives a good living area during the day.
✔️ Good Weight / Manageability Balance
- With MTPLM 3,500 kg, it stays in the class that most non-commercial drivers can handle without needing special licences. Payload of 565 kg gives a reasonable buffer for gear, fuel, water etc.
- Length of 6.54 m is long enough for comfort but still more manoeuvrable than larger family coachbuilts or overcabs.
Cons:
➖ Height & Clearance
- A height of 2.79 m means you’ll need to watch low bridges, tree overhangs, entrance barriers etc. Some campsites or roads may be problematic.
➖ Age / Wear-Related Issues
- As many are 2007-2008 builds, condition varies. Common areas to inspect: water seals, rooflights, washroom seals (especially around shower), state of upholstery & flooring, and condition of the heating system.
➖ Living Space Compromises
- Although two-berth, front lounge usage means bed conversion needed each night unless you prefer lounge-only evenings. May reduce free space when bed is in place.
